Michael's subject matter is concerned with the depiction of
ineffable moments that
appear and disappear in the mist, the use of exaggerated color and the
slippage
between the real and unreal. After more
than a decade of living in suburban Melbourne, Australia, he is keen to
investigate the colors and compositions of
'home' and to more closely observe and paint the verdant shadows and
saturated colors
he associates with New England.
Weir Farm's Artist-in-Residence program (AIR) selects twelve artists to
live and work at Weir Farm each year. To date, over 200 artists from
throughout the U.S., as well as Tunisia, Germany, Australia, India and
the Netherlands have participated in the AIR program. Visual artists
apply for one month residencies in all media and diverse artistic points
of view from traditional to experimental.
