Event Details

Please join us to learn everything you need to know to prepare for the total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024. We will learn why solar eclipses happen, how to safely observe the sun, and what you can expect to see. Elliot Severn will also share his experiences from the total solar eclipse of 2017. This will be the last total solar eclipse in the United States until 2045, so you won't want to miss it.

Elliot Severn is the Planetarium Director at SHU's Discovery Science Center in Bridgeport and an adjunct professor of astronomy at Sacred Heart University.  He is also an astrophotographer and photojournalist, who has covered the U.S. space program for the last decade. Elliot is a Stratford native and an alumnus of Alfred University and Trumbull High School.
