Teens - Learn to Knit a Winter Hat (Part 1)

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Event Details

Teens in grades 6-12 can learn how to knit and make a winter hat in two weeks! Join us on two consecutive Mondays -- 12/7 & 12/14 from 3:30-5 p.m. Our instructor, Kate Filaski, began knitting over 30 years ago while in college and loves to share her knowledge and get others excited about all the simple, but cool things to make.  If you're new to knitting, please watch the following tutorials before our first session:

Knit Stitch
Purl Stitch
Long Tail Cast-On
Joining in the Round
Knit Two Together
Make a PomPom

Here's what you need to purchase:

* 106-212 yards of Super Bulky yarn (**Please choose a light color as they are much easier to work with when learning to knit!!!)  Any of these  will work:

 -- Lion Brand® Wool Ease® Thick & Quick® Bonus Bundle® Yarn
OR
-- Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick® Yarn, Solids
OR
-- (2 skeins) of Cozy Wool™ Yarn by Loops & Threads®

We'll supply the necessary tools (needles and markers). Before the workshop, you can swing by the Wilton Library's drive-thru to pick them up.
