Purposeful Play and Why It’s Important for Learning (Zoom)

10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Event Details

Please join us via Zoom for an interactive and informative  experience on the importance of play in children's development and how parents can play more intentionally with their children.

Through play, children learn how to engage and interact successfully in the world around them. Play is, in fact, a critical vehicle through which children achieve healthy developmental milestones. In theory, playing with our children sounds like it should be easy: there are no rules; there is no script. But, in reality, the art of play can be overwhelming and confusing, especially when the children have not yet developed foundational people-, play- or group skills.

In this session, Meghan Cave, BCBA, co-founder of The Hangout Spot, LLC, Connecticut’s first behavior analytic social skills development center, will outline actionable steps parents can follow to play along with their children, promoting social success and meaningful learning along the way.

Meghan Cave, MEd, BCBA, brings passion and over 14 years of experience to her work. She has provided special education and behavior analytic services in both home- and public-school settings throughout Fairfield County has co-authored articles in Autism Parenting Magazine and Behavioral Science in the 21st Century (blog), and is a five-time recipient of awards honoring excellence and leadership in working with children with disabilities. Meghan earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Human Development and her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction for Students with Severe Special Needs from Boston College and later completed her Post-Master BCBA Certificate at Endicott College.
