Beating Osteoporosis with Targeted Nutrition and Exercise

Please join us for an educational osteoporosis presentation by RVNAhealth, presented by RVNAhealth Outpatient Practice Manager Dr. Kate Campbell and RVNAhealth Registered Dietitian Monica Marcello.  Dr. Campbell will discuss the key types of exercises to optimize bone health and Monica Marcello will highlight how food, nutrition, and appropriate supplementation can help to prevent and improve osteoporosis.  In addition, RVNAhealth Physical Therapist Andrea deLange will demonstrate a "Strength and Beyond" series of exercises to target osteoporosis treatment and prevention.  You will leave with bone-friendly recipes and a list of calcium-rich foods, along with a list of exercises that you can do on your own to help reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

Kate Campbell, PT, DPT, SCS, Cert. MDT, CSCS, is the RVNAhealth Outpatient Practice Manager, focused exclusively on the performance, services, and growth of the RVNAhealth Rehabilitation & Wellness Center and RVNAhealth@GPC (our satellite clinic at the Golf Performance Center), both located in Ridgefield, CT. Kate’s specialty is in sports and orthopedics, and she is committed to helping patients return to their sports and activities following injury. Kate also provides post-joint replacement therapy, vestibular support and Otago balance training. She is LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Training) Big certified and treats patients with Parkinson’s disease. Kate holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Delaware, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in exercise physiology with a double minor in strength & conditioning and biology. Kate is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) in Sports Physical Therapy (currently one of only 18 physical therapists in the state of Connecticut with this distinction).

Monica Marcello, MS, RD, is RVNAhealth’s registered dietitian and nutrition educator who promotes holistic health, longevity, and quality of life. Monica’s areas of expertise include disease prevention and treatment for many chronic and acute conditions. Her primary concentration includes treating digestive disorders such as GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disorder), IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) and IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). Monica also has extensive experience in conditions such as heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, and weight management.  Monica earned both her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Nutritional Science at University of Connecticut.

Andrea deLange, PT, CERT MDT, LSVT BIG, CDP, has been a practicing physical therapist since 1990 with a focus on both orthopedic injuries and neurological disorders. She currently works part-time at the RVNAhealth Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. She is certified in mechanical diagnosis and treatment (MDT) from the McKenzie Institute USA, as well as the LSVT method for treating people with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Andrea received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from Ithaca College.
