Event Details

Professional book discussion leader Susan Boyar discusses Shrines of Gaiety, by Kate Atkinson this month. Shrines of Gaiety transports us to the dazzling London of the Roaring Twenties in a whirlwind tale of corruption, seduction, and debts that have come due. 1926, in a country still recovering from the Great War, London has become the focus for a delirious new nightlife. Nellie Carter, the notorious - and ruthless - queen of a dazzling, seductive and corrupt new world in the clubs of Soho, finds her success breeding enemies as she faces threats from without and within, revealing the dark underbelly beneath Soho's gaiety.

Wilton Library Readers meets the second Wednesday of each month through June. Feel free to eat your lunch while we discuss the book. For a listing of meetings and titles, visit our Wilton Library Readers page
