Come join us for a free square dance lesson. After a brief introduction and demonstration, you will have the opportunity to get up on the dance floor and join a square. With experienced dancers as your guides, you will learn several basic dance steps and be dancing (and smiling) within the first 5 minutes of your participation. We dance to R&B, Broadway show tunes, Disney, Rock & Roll, old standards, and other contemporary music. Come have some fun, and enjoy this healthy, easy-to-learn, social activity enjoyed by millions around the globe.

Square Bears is a non-profit Square Dance Club based in Wilton Connecticut. We are dedicated to the teaching and preservation of this uniquely American cultural pastime. We offer weekly square dance lessons for newcomers, and sponsor monthly dances for our members and guests. We welcome anyone who can walk, and has an interest in a sociable, healthy, inexpensive, fun pastime. It is easy-to-learn as it simply walking to music. And it is good for your body, your mind, and your spirit … with laughter and friendship added bonuses. Ron Baldwin is the Square Bears club caller. He was introduced to square dancing in 1981 while stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army. A retired engineer, Ron’s interest in dancing resulted in his attending and graduating from Caller’s School in 2016. Shortly thereafter he founded the Square Bears Dance Club and is a frequent guest caller at square dance clubs throughout New England.
