John Lee Clark makes us aware of what it's like to "see" the world through his gift as a DeafBlind poet. John is an active spokesperson for his community. He works for the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development as a Braille and Proctactile Instructor, and he is an advocate for jobs for disabled people. He has a happy family life with his wife and three sons.

As a promoter of Protactile Language, he reminds one of how Helen Keller was taught to learn words by touch - feel the water running through her fingers in order to know the word water. Protactile Language is the opposite of Sign Language. The former is rooted in contact space as it is explained. John says, "We feel language! Areas of the body are touched to express our feelings." We will explore his experiences through his poems.
